Ring the bells of Notre Dame, Tony Award-winning M. Butterfly playwright David Henry Hwang has been set by Disney to write Hunchback, a live-action musical adaptation of the classic Disney film and Victor Hugo novel.
Alan Menken, score composer for Disney classics such as The Little Mermaid and Beauty And The Beast, is set to write the music for the film alongside Broadway legend, Stephen Schwartz. Mandeville is producing the film with Josh Gad, better known as Olaf from Frozen or LeFou from the live-action version of Beauty And The Beast.
The upcoming Hunchback film will join other classic Disney live-action remakes such as Beauty And The Beast, The Jungle Book, and Cinderella already released and the upcoming Aladdin, The Lion King, and Dumbo. Hunchback is still in the early stages, but we can't wait to find out more!
