Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, a new musical inspired by the life of pop icon Michael Jackson, has canceled the previously announced pre-Broadway engagement in Chicago and will now have its world premiere on Broadway in summer 2020.
The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage cancelled the Chicago run due to scheduling difficulties brought about by the recent Actors Equity strike. The new musical will feature a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and a score made up of some of the best-loved, top-selling songs in recording history. Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon will direct and choreograph.
Actors Equity announced a strike on January 7, calling for members to not participate in developmental presentations as negotiations took place. The strike was lifted last week after Equity and the Broadway League reached an agreement concerning new compensation packages that included profit-sharing and structured wage increases.
