Get ready to go "Under The Sea" with ABC! The TV network will present a live concert version of Disney’s The Little Mermaid this fall.
Moana star Auli’I Cravalho will play as "Ariel," Grammy and Emmy winner Queen Latifah will play "Ursula," and Grammy winner Shaggy will take on "Sebastian." The concert will air on ABC November 5, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This news comes simultaneously as pre-production plans for the live-action adaptation of the beloved classic are unfolding. The new live-action Little Mermaid will incorporate the original songs from the 1989 animated hit as well as new songs from Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda is producing the film along with director Rob Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca. David Magee wrote the script. Halle Bailey of Chloe x Halle will star as "Ariel" in the film.
