Tony and Grammy Award-winning actor, singer, director, composer and playwright Billy Porter could not be more excited that his single, 'Love Yourself' hit #1 this week on the Billboard Dance/Club charts.
Porter took to Twitter to say, “Thrilled to announce the song 'Love Yourself' I created for #worldpride has turned into my first #1 hit on the @billboard Dance / Club charts. The song is a message of Love for my #LGBTQ family. I hope that it becomes a song that will be played at #pride for years to come.”
“Love Yourself” was written and produced by transgender artist and producer D.Smith. When discussing his experience working with Billy Porter D. Smith stated, "Billy's talent and his platform are the perfect vessels for such an urgent message. As a proud African-American transgender woman and music producer, I just knew he would be the right messenger for this song and I was right, he killed it! It was an amazing experience working with Billy in the studio and I am thrilled to have written and produced the track for him. My LGBTQIA+ friends and family need to hear this. The world needs to hear it as well."
Bill Butler and Carmen Cacciatore were the executive producers of the song and it is available on the Butler Music Company Label.
