The 2019 Red Bucket Follies fundraiser was a massive success. After six weeks of raising funds the final total after the events of December 9th and 10th was $5,631,888 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. That is the second highest fall fundraising total in Broadway Cares history.
This year's top overall fundraising award went to Hamilton - And Peggy tour. They raised $483,841, and also won the top overall fundraising award this past spring at the annual Easter Bonnet Competition.
Awards were also presented for best onstage presentation. The big winner for that was Fiddler on the Roof - in Yiddish. They kicked things up a notch with their performance this holiday season with the Radio City Chanukah Spectacular. The Great Society was the second place winner with a classic folk rendition of "Keep Your Eyes on the Prize."
Overall it was a spectacular event that opened with over 200 actors who had made their Broadway debuts this season. Other highlights included incredible numbers from Frozen, Chicago, and a performance by rock icon David Byrne.
