Julianne Moore and Danny Pino complete the principal cast of the upcoming film adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway hit musical Dear Evan Hansen, according to Deadline.
Moore will play Evan Hansen's mother, Heidi Hansen, and Pino will play Larry Murphy, a father figure to the character.
Previously announced, Ben Platt will reprise his role of Evan Hansen in this film. Platt originated the role of Evan in early workshops of the musical, and went on to win the 2017 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. The film will also star Amy Adams as Cynthia Murphy, Kaitlyn Dever as Zoe Murphy, Colton Ryan as Connor Murphy, Nik Dodani as Jared Kleinman and Amandla Stenberg as Alana Beck.
Steven Levenson wrote the book for the stage musical as well as the script wrote the script, and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote the music and penned the original lyrics for the musical and film. Stephen Chbosky is set to direct, with Marc Platt and Adam Siegel as producers for their Universal-based Marc Platt Productions.
