Lin-Manuel Miranda is working on a new Broadway musical based on 'The Warriors.'
Creator of the hit Broadway show, 'Hamilton,' Lin-Manuel Miranda is working on a new musical for Broadway, according to the New York Post. The project would be an adaptation of Sol Yurick's 1965 novel "The Warriors." The novel is about gang battles in New York City in the 60s. This would be his first Broadway show since 'Hamilton' and 'In The Heights.'
"The Warriors" was made into a film in 1979, directed by Walter Hill and according to the New York Post, the author of the novel, Yurick, hated the film. The book was written to give the opposing image of gangs in the musical 'West Side Story.' For his research, Yurick shadowed real gangs around New York City.
