2019 Oscar nominations were announced on Tuesday morning (January 22) and they saw Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar and more appropriately score honors in the Best Original Song category as tracks from some of the most successful soundtracks of the last year.
Among the nominees for the Original Song category include "All The Stars" from Black Panther by Kendrick Lamar & SZA, "Shallow" from A Star Is Born by Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, Andrew Wyatt, and Benjamin Rice, "I'll Fight" from RBG by Diane Warren and Jennifer Hudson, "The Place Where Lost Things Go" from Marry Poppins Returns by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman; and "When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings" from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.
On the film front, The Favourite and Roma led the nomination pack with 10 apiece. They were followed by A Star Is Born and Vice, earning eight honors separately. Meanwhile, Blank Panther scored seven honors, while BlacKkKlansman nabbed six. Plenty of eyes will specifically be on Gaga as she was simultaneously nominated in the Best Actress category alongside Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), Glenn Close (The Wife), Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?).
