Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award- winner Audra McDonald and two-time Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon are returning to Broadway this spring in a revival of Terrence McNally’s Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune .
Arin Arbus is set to direct the revival in celebration of the four-time Tony Award-winning writer Terrence McNally's 80th birthday! Performances of this limited time production will begin in May at the Shubert theatre.
McDonald has won 6Tony Awards for her performances in Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime, A Raisin in the Sun, The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, and Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill. She is also a Emmy-Award winner and a recipient of the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama for 2015. And this year will receive Signature Theatre's 10th annual Stephen Sondheim Award , presented at a black-tie gala at the Embassy of Italy in Washington DC on March 4th.
Shannon was last seen on Broadway in the 2016 revival ofLong Day's Journey Into Night. He was nominated for two different Oscars his roles in the films Nocturnal Animals and Revolutionary Road .
