Exciting news for all Broadway fans! While we've talked about a number of shows closing, we've got big news on an exciting new musical that is set to open in the Spring of 2020!
Six will officially be opening on Broadway March 12, 2020 with performances beginning February 13, 2020 at the Atkinson Theatre on 47th Street in New York City.
Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, and produced by Kenny Wax, Wendy & Andy Barnes, George Stiles and Kevin McCollum, follows the lives of the six wives of Henry VIII. From the official press release:
Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses,SIXthe wives of Henry VIII take the mic to reclaim their identities out of the shadow of their infamous spouse—remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an exuberant celebration of 21st century girl power.
The concept came from Marlow and Moss when they were students at Cambridge in earl 2017. In an interview Marlow and Moss said:
We are UNBELIEVABLY excited about SIX coming to Broadway, like actually what is going on! We are so grateful that we get to share our show with an even wider audience, especially somewhere as iconic as the home of musical theatre
