New York City Center Announced The Casting For 2020 Encores! Season

Encores! is a Tony-honored series led by Artistic Director Jack Viertel and Music Director Rob Berman.

The first show, Mack & Mabel, opens with Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart’s love letter to the silent film era. The show will run from February 19th, 2020 through February 23rd, 2020. The production is directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes and will star Tony Award nominee Douglas Sills as pioneering filmmaker Mack Sennett and Alexandra Sochaas his first great discovery and muse, Mabel Normand.

Tony Award winner Victoria Clark directs Love Life, with choreography by JoAnn Hunter and music and lyrics by Kurt Weill and Alan Jay Lerner. The show takes the audience through a journey across American history seen through the eyes of a family that never ages—accentuated with entertaining vaudevillian acts that comment on the evolution of the “American Dream.” The show stars Tony Award nominee Kate Baldwin Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell )as Susan and Sam Cooper. Love Life will run from March 18th, 2020 to March 22nd, 2020.

The third production, Thoroughly Modern Millie, is Dick Scanlan and Jeanine Tesori’s Tony Award-winning tribute to the indomitable spirit of New York staring Ashley Park. The show will run from May 6th, 2020 through May 10th, 2020. Tony-nominated choreographer Camille A. Brown will join the artistic team of Encores! and work with Resident Director Lear deBessonet and creative consultant Lauren Yee.
