On September 27th the world will get to see Renee Zellweger as the iconic Judy Garland in the all new movie, Judy. To go along with the highly anticipated movie there is also an original soundtrack where Zellweger will sing along side of Sam Smith and Rufus Wainwright.
Zellweger will be joined on the song 'Get Happy' by Smith. She will team up with Wainwright on a new rendition of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.'
Both of these music superstars have a history with Judy Garland. Rufus Wainwright has a live album titled, "Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall." That album earned him a Grammy nomination.
Sam Smith had this to say on his involvement on the soundtrack:
When I was 17 years old I did a project on Judy Garland for my Film Studies A-Level. I was immediately immersed into the magic of Judy and her incredibly brave and triumphant story. She has remained as one of the icons of my life. She was one of the bravest humans out there and her vulnerability and honesty in her art still gives me goose bumps like it did the first time.
The release of the soundtrack will be released globally on September 27, 2019, coinciding with the US release of Judy. The album also marks 50 years since Garland's premature death in 1969.
