ABC's The Little Mermaid Live! made quite the splash in television ratings on Tuesday, November 5.
The live musical scored a 2.6 rating/12 share in adults 18-49 with around 9 million views, making the program the highest-rated made-for-TV musical on any network in nearly 4 years – since Fox’s Grease that took place on Sunday, January 31, 2016. The Little Mermaid Live! stood as the top-rated entertainment telecast on any network since the May series finale of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory on May, 16 2019. To compare, Fox’s Rent Live musical event only drew a 1.4 rating and 3.4 million total viewers back in January.
According to a press release, The Little Mermaid Live! was also Tuesday’s most social entertainment telecast across broadcast and cable, earning 716,000 total social interactions across Instagram (43%), Twitter (43%) and Facebook (14%).
ABC was the dominant No. 1 network on Tuesday night in Adults 18-49. ABC delivered its strongest Tuesday night with entertainment programming since March 2018 in both Total Viewers (7.1 million) and Adults 18-49 since March 27, 2018.
The Little Mermaid Live! cast included Moana star Auli’i Cravalho as Ariel, Queen Latifah as Ursula, Shaggy as Sebastian, John Stamos as Chef Louis, Graham Phillips as Prince Eric, and Amber Riley as The Emcee.
