Looks like there is another Disney live-action remake to look forward to! Walt Disney Studios will reimagine the beloved animated classic Hercules into a live-action feature film.
According to The DisInsider, the film is expected to be a theatrical release, not a Disney+ original like Lady and the Tramp and will feature songs from the original animated film, with new ones likely being added.
Rumor has it that three well known directors are being scouted for the production: Jon Favreau who directed 2016’s The Jungle Bookand 2019’s The Lion King, Joe and Anthony Russo (the Russo Brothers) who directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014),Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and the highest-grossing movie of all-time, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, and Gore Verbinski who directed first three Pirates of the Caribbean films. A pretty impressive group of candidates!
Hercules was released in 1997 by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The story follows Hercules who was snatched as a baby by Hades and forced to live among mortals as a half-man, half-god. Now a teenager, Hercules needs to perform a rite of passage on Earth to prove himself worthy of living with the gods on Mount Olympus.
