The producers for Diana A New Musical announced today that the musical will premiere on Netflix next year, ahead of their official Broadway opening. The musical is currently on hiatus with the Broadway closure due to COVID-19, but is now scheduled to open on Broadway May 25th, 2021.
In a joint statement, the Diana producers said, "We speak for the entire company when we say that we couldn't be more excited to finally be able to share our show with theater lovers everywhere. Though there is no substitute for the live theater, we are honored to be a part of the quality entertainment that Netflix provides its subscribers worldwide."
Diana, directed by Christopher Ashley, will be filmed without an audience on the stage of the Longacre Theatre and will feature the original Broadway cast that includes: Jeanna de Waal as "Diana", Roe Hartrampf as "Prince Charles", Erin Davie and "Camilla Parker Bowles" and two-time Tony Award winner Judy Kaye as "Queen Elizabeth". Diana also features book and lyrics by Tony Award Winner Joe DiPietro, music and lyrics by Tony Award winner David Bryan, and choreography by Tony Award nominee Kelly Devine.
