As we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic we're seeing more and more postponements and cancellations. Several films have now been pushed to 2021 releases, including Steven Spielberg's West Side Story.
Variety reports that if these movies had come out in theaters as planned they would see a decline in revenue between 70% and 80%. Other films being pushed to 2021 include Black Widow and Death on the Nile.
Spielberg's West Side Story was originally supposed to premiere in theaters December of 2020 but will not hit the big screen until December 10, 2021. This version of the film was being set up as a major contender at the Academy Awards, which is still possible, just not this year.
