Two familiar names are reportedly being considered for the New York Jets' general manager position.
The Jets are reportedly planning to interview former Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson this week and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, who previously worked in the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders' front offices, at a later time, a league sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday (December 16).
"Search is on: the Jets are expected to interview former Titans GM Jon Robinson and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, amongst others, for their general manager opening, per sources," Schefter wrote on his X account.
The Jets are expected to interview other candidates, which they will publicly announce or confirm once each interview is completed, the sources said. The franchise must also hire a head coach and reportedly isn't married to bringing in one before the other as it aims to hire the best candidate available for either position, but just happens to be interviewing for the general manager job earlier.
Both Robinson and Riddick are free to meet with the Jets at any time as they aren't currently employed by other NFL organizations, while other candidates must wait until the regular season ends. Robinson is credited for drafting two-time NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry and Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown during his tenure with the Titans, but was also responsible for the trade that sent Brown to the Eagles, which ultimately led to his firing.
The Titans went to the playoffs four times during Robinsons' seven seasons with the franchise and he is the second-winning general manager in its history with 69 wins, trailing only Floyd Reese's 111 wins. Riddick, who played in the NFL for seven seasons, has been linked to several front office vacancies in recent years, which included the Pittsburgh Steelers' general manager search that ultimately went to Omar Khan in May 2022, as well as general manager openings with the Detroit Lions and Houston Texans in 2020.
