David Thaxton On Broadway Debut In 'Sunset Boulevard' And NYC Adventures

David Thaxton recently stopped by the iHeartRadio Broadway studio to chat about his highly anticipated Broadway debut in Sunset Boulevard. The Olivier Award-winning actor reprises his role as Max Von Mayerling in the visionary Jamie Lloyd-directed production, which made waves in London’s West End before its much-lauded transfer to New York.

Thaxton reflected on the journey from London to Broadway, sharing insights into how the production has evolved while maintaining its striking, minimalist aesthetic. He spoke about the thrill of bringing the show to a new audience and the unique energy of Broadway. In addition to his onstage triumphs, Thaxton opened up about the excitement of living in New York City for the first time. A self-proclaimed Mets fanatic, he’s been making the most of his time exploring the city, taking in Broadway shows, and finding new creative inspiration.

Sunset Blvd. stars Nicole Scherzinger as Norma Desmond, whose performance has been called “career defining” (New York Times), “seismic” (Los Angeles Times), “dazzling” (Wall Street Journal), “volcanic” (USA Today), and “rapturous” (Washington Post). Scherzinger has extended her run in Sunset Blvd. on Broadway through Sunday, July 13 when the production will end its limited engagement at the St. James. Scherzinger is joined by 2024 Olivier Award winner Tom Francis as ‘Joe Gillis,’ 2024 Olivier Award nominee Grace Hodgett Young as ‘Betty Schaefer,’ and Olivier Award winner and 2024 Olivier nominee David Thaxton as ‘Max Von Mayerling.’
